Banyan is a plant native to Asia and Australia.[2] The recently described banyan variety, Ficus benjamina var. Bracteata are found in uplifted coral forests in southern Taiwan. Several banyan species have also become naturalized in the West Indies as well as in the United States states of Florida and Arizona.[3][4] Banyan fruit is relatively small, and is usually liked by several birds, such as the king's guardian, wompoo fruit dove (Ptilinopus magnificus), pink spotted fruit dove (Ptilinopus perlatus), Ptilinopus ornatus, orange-bellied fruit dove (Ptilinopus iozonus), torres imperial dove ( Ducula spilorrhoa, and the purple-tailed emperor dove (Ducula rufigaste).
