Great Egrets Fishing And Doing Ritual Dances Stock Image

Egrets showing their mating plumage while fishing for small fish or other water animals. The fishing occurs in the reeds of a small water hole at the Audubon Riverlands Wildlife Refuge near the dam pool of the Melvin Price Locks and dam near Alton, Illinois. Some of about 15 Egrets gathered together and showing mating plumage and mating rituals. Other wildlife in the vicinity included Great Blue Herons and sandpipers. Some birds were fishing and catching small fish and other water creatures.. The refuge is located in northern St. Charles county, Missouri
