The Kuleli Military High School in Istanbul, Turkey #318744338
Description
Past the small village of Ãengelköy on the Asian side of the Strait is the imposing Kuleli Military School, built in 1860 and immortalised in Irfan Orga's wonderful memoir Portrait of a Turkish Family. During the Crimean War it functioned as a military hospital and was supervised by Florence Nightingale. Its most noticeable features are the two 'witch hat' towers.
