Partial view of the wall of the town of Atienza from the 12th century. Guadalajara, Castile la Mancha, Spain. #319363812
Description

Due to the strategic importance of Atienza during the Reconquista and the wars suffered in its lands, there is extensive military architecture that has endured over the centuries. The most characteristic elements of this military architecture are the castle and the two wall enclosures that surrounded it and that served as protection for the town. In recent years, the conservation of various sections of these walls has been carried out.The first wall enclosure is the closest to the castle and crosses the current urban area. It was built in the 12th century, partially destroyed in the 14th century and rebuilt shortly after. The second fence, of which fewer sections remain, was built shortly after the first and borders the limits of the current urban area.
