Homozygous and heterozygous chromosomes #321217975
Description
Homozygous refers to a condition where an individual has two identical alleles for a particular gene, one inherited from each parent. For example, if an individual inherits two alleles for brown eye color (let's say represented as "B"), one from their mother and one from their father, they would be homozygous for brown eye color and would have the genotype "BB". Similarly, if an individual inherits two alleles for blue eye color ("b") from both parents, they would be homozygous for blue eye color and would have the genotype "bb". Heterozygous refers to a condition where an individual has two different alleles for a particular gene, one inherited from each parent. Using the eye color example, if an individual inherits one allele for brown eye color ("B") from one parent and one allele for blue eye color ("b") from the other parent, they would be heterozygous for eye color and would have the genotype "Bb".
