Frank Lautenberg makes a campaign speech at Temple B'nai Abraham in Livingston, New Jersey in 2003. Lautenberg represented New Jersey in the US Senate from 1982 until 2001, and then when his successor resigned amidst a scandal, Lautenberg saved his party by running again in 2003, serving until 2013. In the Senate he was especially active in the field of transportation. Lautenberg, a successful businessman and philanthropist, was the last remaining World War Two veteran in the Senate. He died in 2013 at the age of 89.
