Landscape with the fortified church in the village of Valeni, Apuseni, Transylvania, Romania #321463302
Description
This small defensive fort has played an important role throughout history, saving the villagers from raiders. The Reformed-Calvin church here was built in 1261 by the Franciscan monks of those times, in Roman style. Rebuilt in 1452 in Gothic style, the people of the time added an altar and buttresses to strengthen the walls. In the following century, the massive tower was built, which had, among other things, the purpose of observing the entire area.
