View of the famous The Stint Market in old town of Lüneburg #322199117
Description
The Stintmarkt is located in Lüneburg's historic water district. As the name suggests, the fish species "smelt" was once traded here, a small, herring-like fish that was very popular in the Middle Ages.Similar to salmon, smelt swim into the rivers at the end of February to spawn in the sandy bottom. They were caught and traded at the Stintmarkt.Today, Lüneburg's most famous pub and restaurant mile is located at the Stintmarkt. The medieval houses, all of which are very well preserved, offer a fantastic and much-used photo backdrop.
