Pictured is a large Nile crocodile basking in the sun near the edge of the Chobe River in the Chobe National Park in Botswana, Africa. It was photographed from a boat based at the Chobe Game Lodge. Nile crocodiles are opportunistic apex predators. A very aggressive crocodile, they are capable of taking almost any animal within their range. The binomial name is Crocodylus niloticus.
