Male impala walking toward the nearby Chobe River in Chobe National Park in Botswana, Africa. #322808245
Description

Pictured is a male impala walking toward the nearby Chobe River in Chobe National Park in Botswana, Africa. The impala or rooibok is a medium-sized antelope capable of leaping up to nearly ten feet in the air. The glossy coat of the impala is reddish brown on the back, tan on the flanks and white on the underbelly. The ground is covered with elephant dung as the area is a popular spot for herds of elephants to come and drink. The elephant dung attracts the chacma baboon in the foreground who is sifting through the dung for tasty morsels of fruit and seeds that have passed undigested through the elephants digestive tract. The impala and chacma baboon were photographed from a safari boat stationed at the historic Chobe Game Lodge. The binomial name of the impala is Aepyceros melampus and the baboon Papio ursinus.
