Description
Pictured are four African bush elephants of varying ages from calf to mature, standing drinking water near the edge of the Chobe River in Chobe National Park in Botswana, Africa. In the background two other elephants are heading from the bush across the beach to the river to drink. Elephants drink around eleven gallons of water a day and eat as much as six-hundred sixty pounds of leaves, twigs, fruit, bark, grass and roots a day. The binomial name is Loxodonta africana. The elephants were photographed from the Chobe River on a safari boat from the historic Chobe Game Lodge.
