Veteran and iconic film and television actor Donald Sutherland, then 68, arrives at the Guggenheim Museum in Upper Manhattan on October 30, 2003, for a party celebrating Federico Fellini and marking the 10th anniversary of the director's death. He is accompanied by his wife, French-Canadian actress Francine Racette. The career of the Sutherland, also a Canuck, stretched 6 decades, and he appeared in nearly 200 films and television productions. His breakout role was of Hawkeye Pierce in M*A*S*H in 1970. He won 2 Golden Globe Awards and a Primetime Emmy. Although surprisingly never nominated for an Academy Award, he was the recipient of an Honorary Oscar in 2017. Sutherland passed away on June 20, 2024, in Miami, Florida, after a long illness, at the age of 88.
