Vietnamese GreenfinchThe yellow-throated pine sparrow is an endemic bird species of Vietnam and is only distributed in the high mountains of Lam Dong province, with the scientific name Chloris monguilloti.Yellow-throated pine sparrows have an average body size of 13.5 â 14 cm. In general, they are black-headed sparrows with large conical beaks, yellow wings and notched tails. There are differences in the morphological characteristics of males and females.For males, the head is mostly covered with black feathers. The upper part of the body is covered in black with olive tints with yellow fur around the neck. The wing feathers are mostly black with yellow wing tips. The primary and secondary wings have bright yellow patches. The fur on the tail is olive green and the underside of the tail is bright yellow. Below the body is yellow fur, the throat is yellow, and the chest and flanks are heavily streaked with pale olive black.For females, the size will be slightly smaller than for males, and the fur color will be a bit brighter. The fur on the nape and back is olive black with light black stripes. The feathers on the wings and under the tail are less yellow. The lower part of the body is thick with many olive-black spots and stripes, mainly on the chest, abdomen and flanks. In particular, the eye rings in females are somewhat brighter.
