Sideview of a male common warthog grazing in an open field in the Okavango Delta in Botswana, Africa. #323198039
Description
Pictured is a sideview of a male common warthog kneeling, grazing in an open field in the Okavango Delta in Botswana, Africa. Males tusks are always larger and their facial wattles are more distinct. They are largely herbivorous, but opportunistically eat invertebrates or small animals, even scavenging on carrion. Warthogs often kneel down on their front legs and use their muscular snout to dig up dinner, as this warthog is doing. The photograph was taken from a safari vehicle based at the Atzaro Okavango Camp. The binomial name is Phacochoerus africanus.
