Tavera Hospital from the 16th century in the city of Toledo. Castile la Mancha, Spain. #323399269
Description

The foundation is due to the widowed Duchess of Lerma who restored and conditioned the old Tavera Hospital, also called Outside Hospital, and linked it to the Medinaceli house. The building was erected in 1544 by Cardinal Tavera, buried in the Church of the Hospital and whose tomb is the work of Alonso Berruguete. The museum exhibits important paintings by El Greco and various top masters: Ribera, Berruguete, Tintoretto, Lucas Jordán, Canaletto, Tristán, Sánchez Coello, etc. that alternate tapestries, furniture and sumptuary objects with a magnificent library. Its famous pharmacy houses an important collection of ceramic jars from Talavera and Puente del Arzobispo, highlighting among the set of jars, vials and flasks a decorated piece of furniture with a large number of drawers, called the apothecary's eye. We must make special mention of the Renaissance patio.
