Pictured is a red-winged starling atop a leafless branch near the entrance to the Flying Dutch Funicular, a railway at the entrance to Cape Point, a promontory at the southeast corner of the Cape Peninsula in South Africa. The red-winged starling is an omnivore, taking a wide range of seeds, berries, nectar from plants, and invertebrates such as beetles. They may take nestlings and adults of certain bird species, and even scavenge of carrion and human food scraps. The binomial name is Onychognathus morio.
