Description
Aranyikawas Temple There is an interesting historical site in the temple, which is a big reclining Buddha image behind the stupa. The Buddha image is made by brownstone during Ayutthaya Era. It was originally 15 Wah (30 meters) long, later it was renovated in order to extend its length to 30 Wah (60 meters) as of nowadays. The principle stupa is surrounded by 4 minor stupas, with beautiful stucco sculpture. The group of stupa is surrounded by a peristyle where the sandstone Buddha images, Ayutthaya Buddhist arts, are enshrined. In addition to the stupa, there are 2 bell-shaped chedi in the front part of the temple. The Chedi are in Sri Lanka Arts Style, which was a popular style to be applied in the Sukhothai and Ayuthaya Arts.
