Description
Roedvig Flintovn is a 3.5 m tall square building with 5m tall chimney brick on top. It is furnished with 3 rooms above the other local museum, etc.. as well as a viewing platform. An enterprising skipper, Rasmus Larsen, was in 1870 the idea to build a flinteovn in Roedvig Harbour. He had seen how flintmel imported from France, and he thought that it could be produced by the Stevns flint from the cliff might be just as well for the purpose, which was that it would be used to glaze on the beautiful earthenware, as factory Alumina Christianshavn in Copenhagen produced.
