Eilean Donan Castle - Famous Place - Scotland. #325632104
Description
Eilean Donan is a small UK island in Scotland. It is linked to the island of Great Britain by a stone bridge that leads to a castle occupying a large part of the island. This building, built and altered many times from the early 13th century onwards, was abandoned in a state of ruin in 1719 following a battle that damaged it severely. Bought by the MacRae clan, it was rebuilt between 1912 and 1932, preserving its architectural style. Since then, it has welcomed many visitors, who consider it Scotland's most romantic castle. It is also one of Scotland's most photographed castles and has been used as a backdrop for numerous films.
