Description
The large red sculpture represents the âMay Windsâ of the May Fourth Movement. It is in May Fourth Square, Wu Si Guang Chang, is located in Qingdao's central business district. It is dedicated to the May Fourth Movement which ignited student demonstrations on Max 4th 1919 sparked by Article 156 of the Treaty of Versailles which transferred German concessions in Shandong including Qingdao to Japan rather than returning sovereign authority to China.
