William Lent and Salvage Mining Company 4 #325898699
Description
Almost all businesses of any size require upfront money to get started, and silver mining is no exception. With the discovery of the Comstock Lode in Nevada in 1859, the first big silver ore discovery in the country at the time, it was the biggest thing since San Francisco`s gold rush just ten years earlier. William Lent, President of The Salvage Mining Company located in this then brand new building, personally helped to fund Comstock mining, which produced so much new wealth as to help develop the newly aquared western states, after the Civil War. In recognition, this building has been designated a California State Historic Monument. As seen 9 August 2022.
