Description
Dhammikarama Burmese Temple is a Theravada Buddhist temple within George Town in Penang. Originally established as Nandy Moloh Temple in 1803 by the Burmese community, it is the oldest Burmese temple in Malaysia and one of the oldest outside of Myanmar. It is known for its colorful architecture and impressive 8.2m standing Buddha statue located in its main shrine hall. Shin Upagutta is an arahant commonly venerated by Buddhists in Myanmar and is believed to possess the power to ward off evil spirits, obstacles and dangers.
