Description
A thermopolium, equivalent of a modern day cafe/bar, where hot and cold food was sold from what was usually an L shaped masonry counter containing terracotta vessels. Herculaneum was an ancient Roman town destroyed by volcanic pyroclastic flows in 79 A.D., located in the territory of today's commune of Ercolano in the shadow of Mount Vesuvius.
