Description
Founded in 1585. Before Genk? (1321-1324) during the Kamakura period, this area was an inlet. A clan called Shibata lived on an island covered with pine trees in the inlet, and the shrine was originally built as a shrine for the Shibata family's house god on Matsushima. In the Tensho period, it was opened to the public. At that time, it was called Matsushima Inari.
