Jatropha, commonly called physic nut, peregrina , spicy jatropha and nettlespurge (family Euphorbiaceae) is flowering plant in the spurge. Most of the 170 species are native to the Americas, with 66 found in the Old World. Plant contains highly toxic compounds. One species generated interest as an oil crop for biodiesel production and also medicinal importance when used as lamp oil.
