Kødbyen is said to be bohemian, cool, trendy and many other terms in English that more or less mean the same thing. Specifically, kød in Danish is meat and byen the neighborhood. Located in Vesterbro, west of Copenhagen's central train station, it is an area that until recently was a center of prostitution and drugs but long before that it was an industrial area where the city's slaughterhouse operated.
