Shrine in Chitose, Sumida Ward, TokyoFounded in 1693 (6th year of Genroku). Kazuichi Sugiyama, the founder of the Kanshin method of acupuncture, was given the land of Honjo Hitotsume in recognition of his achievement in curing the illness of the 5th Shogun of the Edo Shogunate, Tokugawa Tsunayoshi. In addition to his own residence, Sugiyama also opened the world's first educational facility for the visually impaired, the Sugiyama School of Acupuncture and Doin Training Center, on this land.
