Music Pavilion In Byparken Gardens In The City Of Bergen,Norway Editorial Photo

Byparken is a large urban park located at the western end of Lille Lungegårdsvannet. The rectangular green space was created in 1865, a decade after a fire destroyed more than 180 houses in the neighborhood. The centerpiece is this beautiful cast iron music pavilion with Moorish details. The Musikkpaviljongen was donated to the city in 1888. Also admire the life-size bronze statue of Edvard Grieg by Ingebrigt Vik. This Bergen native was a successful classical piano composer during the late 19th century. In the background you can see the old Telegraph building. The first floor is now the Telegrafen shopping center.
