Description
St. Mary's Church (Norwegian: Mariakirken) is a 12th-century Romanesque temple located in Bergen, Norway. It is the oldest preserved building in the entire city. Its construction material is soapstone.It is a basilica. It consists of a large, central nave, with a high ceiling, and two side naves with a lower ceiling. The division between the central nave and the lateral ones consists of arcades supported by pillars, and on the upper walls of the nave is located the clerestory, with windows that allow light to enter the church.
