With the vastly increased consumption popularity of teas and coffees in Western Europe and the United States Post World War Two, required special, new furniture for their serving and consumption. Although the idea of low tables for this use were already in China and Japan for centuries, with the increased popularity of television, the low table design was reworked, so as not to block the view of this new piece of furniture, with another new furniture center piece.
