25 SAAB Safir were delivered in 1956-1957 to replace the Fairchild Cornell. The aircraft was primarily used in the basic training of flight school is at Værnes airport in Norway. The first years some where also in use in support wings in southern Norway and 335 Squadron B-wing at Gardermoen.
