Bronze Welcome to Gantt Plaza plaque mounted on stone at the entrance to Gantt Plaza in Asheville, North Carolina. The plaza was named in honor of David Gantt, a successful lawyer who was first elected to Buncombe County Commission in 1996 and was elected chairman in 2008. He served until 2016 when he elected not to run for re-election to spend more time with his family. The new plaza is between the county administration building and parking deck in downtown Asheville.
