Description
A large stream, a huge overhang, deep plunge pool, example of conjugate joint system found in the Ithaca area showing a harder layer of Tully Limestone undercut when the stream erodes the softer Moscow and Ludlowville shale layers below and flows into Cayuga Lake. The waterfalls were a filming location for several movies during the silent movie era. It powered the early settlement of Ludlowville that built a gristmill here in 1795. Empties near Cargill salt mines under Cayuga Lake.
