Bronze information plaque for Ellington's Dream, a granite etching at station twenty-five of the Asheville Urban Trail. #331356556
Description
Pictured is the bronze information plaque for Ellington's Dream, a granite etching at station twenty-five of the Asheville Urban Trail. The etching renders Douglas Ellingon's original working concept of two art deco buildings of government on Court Plaza. The city chose Ellington's Beaux-Arts design with its Art Deco embellishments, but the county rejected the plan and build a more traditional structure by Milburn, Heister and Company. Both buildings were dedicated in 1928. Douglas Dobell Ellington was born in 1886 and died in 1960. He was an American architect noted for his work in the Art Deco style.
