Located in Liaocheng, Shandong Province, China, Dongchang Lake, formerly known as Huancheng Lake and Fengcheng Lake, was formed in the Song Dynasty and originally existed as a moat. After generations of excavation and water storage, it gradually developed into an artificial lake, with a total area of about 4.2 square kilometers, slightly smaller than the West Lake in Hangzhou, is a rare large urban lake in northern China.
