Claude Oscar Monet was an important French painter. He is considered the founder of the artistic movement Impressionism, the name of which is derived from his painting Impression, soleil levant (Impression, sunrise).He was born in Paris as the second child of Claude Adolphe and Louise-Justine Monet.
