Pictured is a reproduction of the original French terra cotta sculpture Woman Reading With Dog on the Library Terrace of Biltmore. The original was produced by Gossin Freres of Paris, a firm well known for their ornamental terra cotta fabrications. After many years of exposure to the elements, Biltmore's original sculpture had heavy deterioration including loss of an arm and floral garland. Asheville artist Alex Levine was commissioned to create a replica. The entire commission took the skilled ceramic artist more than two years to complete.
