Little pitchers of the carnivorous purple pitcher plant, Sarracenia purpurea, pushing up through the soil. The pitchers will fill with water and trap insects that fall in, eventually digesting them and absorbing the nutrients. These are some of the special plant life that can be found in the bogs and wetlands of the New Jersey Pine Barrens.
