Sign, Trinity Episcopal Church on the corner of Church and Aston Streets in Asheville, North Carolina. #332318762
Description
Pictured is the small sign for Trinity Episcopal Church on the corner of Church and Aston Streets in Asheville, North Carolina. The church was founded in 1849 and soon the fledgling parish needed its own church. A small brick walled structure was built at the current site and replaced with a larger structure in the 1880s. A raging fire destroyed the new church in 1910 and the third church was designed and built between 1910 and 1913, with architect Bertam Grosvenor Goodhue completing the design in classic Gothic Revival style. The church has been placed on the National Register of Historic Places by the United States Department of the Interior. The marker is fastened to an outside wall of the church near the front entrance.
