Title
Fledging Adelie penguin on old blue ice, Antarctica #332782505
Description
Still somewhat bemused by its situation the young penguin is exploring the world of ice and snow. The half white, half black head denotes a fledging of the season. Around the end of March all the Adelie chicks are fledging and will head out to sea for a period of up to 3 to 5 years before returning to nest themselves. They are true Antarctic penguins, never leaving the continent and southern ocean.
