Maud Heath monument East Tytherton #332879225
Description
A statue of Maud Heath, on a column in 1838 on a hill that looks out over the river Avon. The statue, in a bonnet and authentic plebeian clothes from the reign of Edward IV, was erected by Lord Lansdowne, in tribute to her gift given in 15th century to build and maintain a causeway across the river linked to a 4.5 mile pathway to Chippenham. The Maud Heath trust is still in existance and in use to maintain the causeweay.
