It is devoted to the worship of Maa Durga and her nine avatars - Maa Shailputri, Maa Brahmacharini, Maa Chandraghanta, Maa Kushmanda, Maa Skandamata, Maa Katyayani, Maa Kalaratri, Maa Mahagauri and Maa Siddhidatri. These nine forms of Adi Shakti are known as Navadurga. Navratri marks Maa Durga's victory of the Goddess over the demon Mahishasura and ends with Vijayadashmi Dussehra celebrations.
