Skate park Golden Gate Park 2 #333402884
Description
People have been roller skating in Golden Gate Park almost from the very day it first opened. Both local residents and visitors alike, as private cars were already banned at the time.To help accommodate all of the skaters, there were venders in trucks along Fulton St., just outside the park, renting out skates to all in need.Due to increasing injuries, and complaints from local residents, the rental truck were finally banned, which caused a sharp drop in park skating. But with the rise of Disco Skating in the 1970`s, skating in the park came rolling back. One spot anyone can come out to and skate, and get some lessons, is at 6th Av and JFK drive, which was recently resurfaced and painted to make it safer and more fun for everyone. The major influence for all of this was the Church of 8 Wheels.
