village of Mottola, province of Taranto. Puglia. Italy #333651341
Description
The ancient heart of Mottola knows how to amaze with its many architectures, such as the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, which is among the most important monuments in the entire province of Taranto. It dates back to 1198 and was renovated in several phases in the following centuries. Also worth highlighting is the Church of the Immaculate Conception, which is definitely worth a visit. It is known among the locals as the Convent and was built towards the end of the seventeenth century, on the site of an existing Franciscan convent. The houses are made of tuff and the streets are paved with chianche, as in the medieval centers that have preserved this heritage. The heart of the city center is Largo San Nicola and Largo Chiesa Madre, characteristic little squares. In the second case we find the church dedicated to the Assumption.
