Ruin temple at Wat Khun Inthapramun of Angthong Province Thailand #33390977
Description
This ancient temple is located 9 kilometres along the Ang Thong-Pho Thong route and 2 kilometres along an access road. There is a large reclining Buddha image, 50 metres long, lying in the open area . The vihara housing the image was destroyed during the first fall of Ayutthaya. The statue of Khun Inthapramun was in front of the Buddha image. According to a legend, Khun Inthapramun is a revenue officer who secretly took away official money to enlarge the original 40 metre construction of the image and was subsequently whipped to death. Phra Si Muang Thong or Luang Pho Khun In, the biggest reclining Buddha image of Thailand (yet another one which claims this title, but it is actually 3 meters shorter than the statue at Wat Bang Phli Yai Klang in Samut Prakan) is at the center or Wat Khun Inthapramun in Angthong Province. The 50 meter long image is over 700 years old is is definitely worth a special trip to Angthong. Even from Bangkok this is just a nice and easy day trip. The image itself is similar to Phra Non Chaksi in Singburi Province. There is also some old chedis and remaining parts of old temples close to the reclining Buddha.
