Cycadophyta fungi are one of the divisions of the group of open seed plants (gymnosperms), the roots are fibrous and form a structure called coralloid roots (because they are shaped like mini corals) which contain cyanobacteria in thread-shaped colonies from the genus Anabaena, the symbiosis of the roots with these cyanobacteria is called cyanobionta (cyanobiont) and is mutualistic because these cyanobacteria can bind free nitrogen from the air into nitrates which are beneficial for their host plants.
