Description
Hanukkah is a traditional Jewish festival, lasting eight days from the 25th day of Kislev (December) and commemorating the rededication of the Temple in 165 BC by the Maccabees. It is marked by the successive lighting of eight candles. The six-pointed star, also known as the Star of David, is used in other religions, including Hinduism, to symbolize the merging of spiritual elements. It was chosen as the central symbol of the Jewish national flag in 1897.
