A photograph showing three small mooncakes on a Chinese design plate. Mooncakes are traditional Chinese sweet snacks eaten at the Mid Autumn Festival. Moon cakes are of the type known as snowskin, snowy, or ice skin. It is a non-baked mooncake that originated in Hong Kong. The crust is made of glutinous rice and the filling can be of lotus seed paste, bean paste, yam or a variety of other fruits. Must be kept cool in a refrigerator. Considered to be a heathier version of the traditional original baked mooncakes.
