Description
Bridge # 38-50-11. The New Germantown Covered Bridge, illuminated by the late afternoon light, is a historic structure built in 1891 by John W. Fry. This single-span bridge features a combination of Kingpost and Queenpost trusses, measuring 74 feet in length and 12 feet in width, with an interior height of 13 feet 9 inches. The planking consists of 2-inch thick, 16-foot-long boards, with the top layer laid lengthwise. The bridge is supported by stone and mortar wingwalls. Located in Toboyne Township near New Germantown, the bridge is owned by Perry County. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on August 25, 1980, under the reference number 80003600.
