Not Quite Ripe Persimmons #335902541
Description

Still Life of Orange Persimmons in a glass. They are not quite ripe, since they get a deep orange and shrived as they ripen. Folklore, which originated in the Ozarks of Arkansas, has it that the seeds of the Persimmon can predict the winter weather. When the seeds are split, they will contain the white shape of either a spoon, fork or knife. A Spoon indicates lots of deep wet snow. The Fork is indicative of a milder winter with a little snow. The Knife is for cold, cutting winds. When I split one of these seeds, there was a spoon (per my sister, the self proclaimed expert), so we will see what the winter brings in Arkansas.
